This policy explains how Free Near Me handles information when you use the Free Near Me iOS app or this website. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Free Near Me.
This website does not include advertising or analytics scripts and does not set non-essential cookies.
Information we collect
We collect the minimum information needed to provide the service:
- Account information: your display name, email address and the account identifier supplied by your chosen sign-in provider.
- Community content: listings, descriptions, photos, approximate listing locations, availability updates, interests, saves, votes and reports you submit.
- Location: your device location when you give permission, or an area you choose manually. Location permission is optional.
- Technical information: information needed to operate and protect the app, such as device, authentication, network and error information made available by Apple, Google or Firebase services.
- Support messages: the content of emails you choose to send to our support or safety addresses.
We do not publish your email address, exact home address or account identifiers on your public profile or listings.
How we use information
We use information to create and secure your account, show free items near your chosen area, publish and manage listings, provide community features, send notifications you enable, respond to support requests, investigate reports and improve the reliability and safety of the service.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Your location
Location helps us show free things nearby. Listing locations are deliberately reduced to an approximate area before they are shown to other people. Do not put an exact address in a listing title, description or photo.
You can deny location access and browse by choosing an area manually. You can change location permission at any time in iOS Settings.
Sign-in and infrastructure services
You can sign in with Apple, Google, or email and password. The provider you choose processes your sign-in details under its own privacy terms. If you use Apple’s private email relay, we receive the relay address rather than your personal email address.
Free Near Me uses Firebase Authentication to manage sign-in and Apple CloudKit to store and synchronise app data. This website is delivered through Firebase Hosting. These providers may process technical information required to supply, secure and maintain their services.
When information is shared
Your display name, listings, listing photos, approximate listing area and community actions intended to be public may be visible to other users. Private account and authentication details are not displayed publicly.
Information may also be processed by the service providers described above, disclosed when required by law, or used when reasonably necessary to protect users, prevent fraud, investigate abuse or defend legal rights.
Retention and account deletion
We keep account and community information while it is needed to provide the service. You can request deletion from Settings → Delete Account in the app. Deletion removes your sign-in account and private profile, and removes or anonymises your listings and activity.
Some limited information may remain for a reasonable period in backups, safety records or where retention is required by law. Support emails remain in our mailbox until they are no longer needed for support, safety or record-keeping.
Your choices
- Choose an area manually instead of sharing device location.
- Change location and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
- Control app notifications in Free Near Me Settings.
- Edit or remove your listings in the app.
- Delete your account from the app or contact us for help.

Children
Free Near Me is not designed for children to use without the involvement and permission of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided personal information inappropriately, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
Security
We use platform authentication, access controls and encrypted network connections to help protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a strong password and avoid putting private contact or address details in public listings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will update the date at the top of this page and, when a change is significant, provide an additional notice where appropriate.
